A little chilly weather was never enough to keep Pittsburgh or Cleveland hockey families from a little outdoor fun and frolic. As it turned out both Pittsburgh United’s U11 and U14 teams took home the hardware in a 8 team total field with Okicki Grey, White and Blue offering spirited resistance. The Tournament event hosted the largest spectator support group yet—with many warming themselves on two makeshift freestanding log fireplaces constructed by the Ohio hosts.
Okicki teams featured players from several organizations from across Cleveland including Winterhurst, Shaker, Mentor, Cleveland Barons, Cleveland Jacks, Euclid and more. The players were resilient in hustling thru a 4 game round robin before the finals. Special thanks to the co-hosts for launching the event, friends since the age of 3: Neil Conway of Painesville Dek Hockey---ECHL and European pro; and Tim Okicki---OSU and Canadian Junior Hockey Royal Bank Cup Finalist.
Pittsburgh United won the U11 and U14 Tournament Divisions
The next Youth Dek Hockey Tournament is the Street Heat Spring Fever Tournament on Saturday May 26.
